The more things change...

Change! Really?

Well, apparently not. Heard on the news this morning that Obama wants Hilary to head up his healthcare team. HELLO!!! Does he not remember that she has already had her shot at that and screwed it up?? And so far all the other appointees have been leftovers from the Clinton administration. So when is the “change” coming?

Actually, we are probably better off that he is choosing leftovers. Otherwise, we might very well have Tony Rezko as Housing and Urban Development chairman (with able assistance from the ACORN weasels) and Bill “Bomber” Ayers as Pentagon chief of staff. Perhaps the alleged Reverend Wright would make a good White House spokesman…

Now we are going to bail out the UAW. The automakers have been doing the exact wrong thing for decades, and now we are going to pay them many millions to do the same thing. We would be better off to let these bloodsuckers go down and start all over again.

The UAW says they have made all the concessions they intend to, so let’s just let these plants close the doors and see once and for all who really provides jobs, companies or unions. We will soon see that the jobs come from the very people Obama says he will tax the most. Actually, most of us knew that already. Go figure.

Be careful what ya ask for...

Listening in on G. Gordon Liddy Thursday and he related the contents of an email he received while he was doing his show.

Seems that a business owner with about 140 employees had been watching the economic and tax plans of both McCain and Obama closely to see how the plans would effect his business. The day after Obama was elected, the owner took a good last look at Obama's tax plan and made the painful decision that, among other changes he would have to make, he would have to lay off about 10% of his valued employees. He anguished for two days about who would have to go, and just couldn't bring himself to actually do the deed, but the reality remained that he could very easily lose the business if he didn't make a final decision soon.

To get some time alone to think, he just started walking around the building and grounds pondering which 14 people would have to go. As he walked through the employee parking lot, he saw eight cars displaying Obama bumper stickers.

Guess which eight people will get laid off first.

Is this the change you all wanted? I warned you to be careful, didn't I...but OOOOO NOOOOOO...

This is just one small company. Stand by for the REST of the story in upcoming posts.

You heard it here first...

Veterans' Day..."The View" From Here

Another Veterans' Day come and gone, and another year of war in the Middle-East continues.

I suppose no one in America still wants American troops dying in the deserts of Iraq for any reason, but even if we don't support the war or President Bush, we should still be supporting the troops.

This comes to mind because of my hearing this morning that Joy Behar of "The View" took time yesterday not to honor the troops, but to go on a partisan rant against President Bush and "his war". Now, I have never watched more than about ten minutes at a time of this show, because it doesn't take even that long to figure out where the political opinions of the cast lie. This is the ultimate liberal view of how "fairness" works; one lone conservative with three loony lefties constantly beating up on her. Why John McCain bothered to face this bunch of whining women I will NEVER know, but he did, with very predictable results.

So anyway, Behar spends what little time alotted to Veterans Day bashing Bush, the war, how much it costs, and on, and on, waah, waah, waah...(I only heard a tape later, OK?). On the other hand, I spent most of my day remembering all the men and women I know who served their country valiantly whether they "liked" the war or not. Good men have died face down in the mud so that Behar and her ilk could spew nonsense like she did yesterday.

Watched "Platoon" and "Apocalypse Now" for about the 20th time each. Thought about one friend who lost part of his hip and now can only walk with a cane, one who was burned badly in a napalm accident, another who bears scars of a different kind; the kind that haunt him at night and wake him up with tears streaming down his face. There are no words that could adequately say "thank you" to these folks; but I am DAMNED sure that the kind of crap coming out of Behar's pie hole yesterday serves no purpose save a little applause from a few women in the audience whose life is so boring that they actually stood in line to see this monumental waste of valuable TV time. And they want fairness? Looks to me like they already have plenty of loons spouting the same tired crap that accomplishes nothing. Thanks for nothing, Joy.

Papaws and Mamaws...

Hello boys and girls...long time, no blog. Been sick, some kind of sinus infection the doc says.

Shanty is back, and says the venom is spewing from "limball". Guess that would be russ limball, huh Shanty? Hard to believe they even let her vote, geez...

Y'know, I just had to feel sorry for Obama on election day though. Imagine winning the Presidency the day after your Grandmother dies. Man, that's a hard, bittersweet blow that I wouldn't wish on anyone.

I remember distinctly the passing of both my Grandmothers. My paternal Grandmother died three days before her 100th birthday. I guess she is responsible for my conservative roots. A lifelong republican and very devout Christian lady, she didn't tolerate any foolishness. Raised on a farm, later to become a farmer's wife, she had good, old-fashioned family values that stuck with all her kids and grandkids, for which I am profoundly grateful.

On my Mom's side, my grandparents were both born in the hills of Kentucky. My Grandfather achieved an eight-grade education, probably one of the more highly educated members of his family. But they had a kind of knowledge and wisdom that education can't provide. My Grandfather became pretty well off through a combination of hard work and good investments.

I don't remember much about my paternal Grandfather as he died when I was about six. He was another working man who farmed his land until the day he died.

What I do remember about all my grandparents was the fact that they all contributed what they could to my early years, and I can only hope to pass on the ethics, morals, and values they lived by daily.

Well, Veterans' Day is tomorrow, and I am flying my flags in their honor today. Missed church Sunday cuz of this stupid sinus infection. Hate to miss because that leaves the Music Ministry up to a darling 19 year old named Mandy, and I hate to leave her hanging out there, though the folks would much rather hear her sing than me, I allow...

Veterans' Day is very important to me, even though I am not a vet. It is somehow totally inadequate to let it come and go so quickly though. I wish there was a better way to say thanks to all who served.

Well, more about that tomorrow maybe.

Later.

GET OVER IT already...

Geez...everybody I know is wandering around like their rabbit died or something! So Obama won...let's give the guy a chance to fulfill his promises and hope he doesn't decide anyone with a real job is rich enough for the 88th floor tax bracket. We will soon see if the "change" is for better or worse. Watch who is named to the cabinet posts. That should give us an idea if he is who he says he is or just another looney lefty.

Of course, the supreme court really scares me. Two ready to go out and who knows how long the others will hold on. If Obama stays true to form, we will see activist judges who make the law, not interpret it. If that doesn't scare you, you haven't been paying attention OR you are to the left of Barney Frank. Obviously the framers of the constitution never intended for the supreme court to override the executive and legislative branches, but they have managed to do so many times.

We shall see soon enough.

Guess I shouldn't be shocked...

Wow...

Black Panthers with nightsticks blocking the poll entrance in Philadelphia, tens of thousands of military votes not counted in Virginia, early voters' names not being marked off the poll books all over the nation...what an end to a very strange trip.

In a nearby polling place, blank ballots were being initialed for the poll sheriff; what the h___ is that all about??

I'll tell you what it's about; our most precious right has been turned into a game of cheat and deceit. If poll workers can't follow the rules, they should be booted immediately.

If you think the Bush administration was corrupt, wait til Obama and his partners in crime take over. Along with Pelosi and Reid, sleaze will again rule the roost in ways that will make the Clintonistas look like pikers!

Well, when Israel whined for a king, God said "ya, sure" and gave them a real loser. Still we haven't learned to be careful what we ask for.

OK, I'm ordering a pizza, locking the doors, and loading the .45, cuz I bet it's one heck of a victory party!!

Later kids.

Oh, Gee...I just CAN'T decide...

I just heard that the latest Fox News poll has Obama up by a margin of 50-43. Hmmm...even Chitownshanty can figure out that 50 and 43 don't total 100. So what of the other seven percent?

Undecided, they say...but how in the WORLD could one be undecided at this point in the campaign?? Anyone who remains undecided at this stage in the game should immediately be charged with "living while stupid" and locked up until after the election is over. Of course, you could say the same for many of the Obama Mamas running amok out there...

This campaign has to be one of the most heavily promoted in the history of the free world. Obama has spent a record amount trying to get his smoke and mirror plans out there while trying to avoid any references to how he will pay for all the new free-flowing $$$. Scary...

So if any of you who read this remain undecided, please call me and I will decide for you...geez people, get off the dime here!!

Now, just CALM DOWN hougie...

Went to vote yesterday. All is well.

It seems that as many elections as I have seen come and go, I still never lose that rush of excitement that comes from sitting down to participate in the future of my country.

As I marked my choices, I felt a sense of responsibility surging through my being. I do not take this job lightly…

I guess that is why I have no respect for those who do. All the Acorn nuts, the Daley-style politicians, the morons who stay home whining that their vote won’t count, the ones who try to make their vote count more than once, those who vote for a pretty face, a slick line, a political party, or a skin color…in other words, those who shouldn’t even have the same rights that real patriots have.

If you can’t recite three things that your candidate stands for, you should be turned away from the polls not to return until you can (and since both Presidential candidates have been promising change, that one doesn’t count).

I took an interesting test this morning sent to me by my sister. You are given two positions on the same issue, and after marking the position you most agree with on all the issues given, the results tell you which candidate you most agree with. I wish I could give this test to all my misled friends who talk one way and vote another.

Well, at least I found one of my favorite cigars on sale yesterday (the Carlos Torano Exodus 1959), so after voting, I went home and enjoyed one on the front porch. There is just nothing quite as good as relaxing with that victory cigar after doing the right thing…unless there is a good single-malt scotch in the mix!

I am still thinking that there will not be much celebrating after Tuesday for me, so I will enjoy it while I can. The polls still show Obama with a small lead, but it is getting closer. I’m just afraid it is too little too late. Well, I will just pray that Obama can do what he says he can, though I really doubt he even believes his OWN promises. I am guessing he goes to sleep at night by counting all the people he has lied to today.

Sleep well Barack. You will need the rest.

The Ant and the Grasshopper...

The Ant and the Grasshopper - This one is a little different... Two Different Versions! Two Different Morals!

OLD VERSION:
The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, buildinghis house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances andplays the summer away. Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold. MORAL OF THE STORY: Be responsible for yourself!

MODERN VERSION:
The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving. CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food. America 's stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so? Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper, and everybody cries when they sing, 'It's Not Easy Being Green.' Jesse Jackson stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the group singing, 'We shall overcome.' Jesse then has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper's sake.

Nancy Pelosi & John Kerry exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his patriotic fair share. Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer. The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retro active taxes, his home is confiscated by the government. Hillary gets her old law firm to represent the grasshopper in a defamation suit against the ant, and the case is tried before a panel of federal judges that Bill Clinton appointed from a list of single-parent welfare recipients. The ant loses the case. The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he is in, which just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around him because he doesn't maintain it. The ant has disappeared in the snow. The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the once peaceful neighborhood.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be careful how you vote in 2008

Thoughts on Hot Lead Delivery Systems...

Getting ready to go try out my new target pistol the thought suddenly hits me that if Barack Obama had his way, I would not be able to own this firearm.

No, it is not an assault weapon, nor does it hold 30 rounds, or even look particularly scary. But it is a handgun, something Obama says none of us need.

It is not for hunting or self-defense. It is for plinking and general target shooting. For those of you from Chicago, plinking is the fine art of putting holes in tin cans. Not really a very menacing thing to spend Saturday afternoon on, I would say. My girlfriend is bringing her cousin, a 13 year old young man who has never had the pleasure of wasting a tin can, so he will experience a new thing today and hopefully become as hooked as I did my first time.

No, I have no plans to hurt anybody (but best knock before you come in) nor do I leave my firearms out so some child can hurt himself or someone else, nor do I respect anyone who does.

I have given firearms safety classes to the Boy Scouts, and anyone else who asks.

I don't own guns because I am bitter.

I own guns because it is my constitutional right, though I consider it a privilege. I own guns because they are a constant reminder that with freedom comes responsibility and accountability; they are a lasting symbol of how we won that freedom.

And I WILL NOT vote for anyone who would deprive me of that freedom or any other...

JOE, THE PLUMBER

I keep hearing that the real winner of the debate last night was Joe, the plumber. Joe was certainly the focus of a large part of the debate, but certainly not the winner.

The clear winner was Barack Obama, who once again had no real answers but lots of denials with no explanations. McCain was 2nd with good questions for Obama but no follow-through. At least three time Obama was pinned on the ropes facing questions he could not weasel out of and all three times McCain let him out.

That clearly makes Joe the plumber not a winner, but a BIG loser in this race. Faced with Joe's statement a couple of days ago that Obama's tax policies would punish him for being a successful business owner, Obama answered that redistribution of income was good for all involved. And you thought communism was dead! Not in Obama's world! In Obama's world, those who don't work share in the wealth of those who do, with a cut off the top for Obama's friends in the legal extortion business.

It seems obvious that Obama is holding or stretching his lead over McCain. So, no, Joe the plumber definitely lost last night, and so did all who aspire to living the Great American Dream through hard work and perseverance.

And all those who had hoped to work for Joe the plumber? Better rush to the unemployment line, cuz Joe can't afford to hire you any more...

The AGONY of Defeat

OMG...could it be over already???
Realclearpolitics.com runs a poll average which is probably the closest predictor (if there is one) of the Presidential race, and it shows Obama hovering about 7.5 points ahead. Is it all over but the crying?
McCain supporters continue to beg him to GET SERIOUS and take the race to Obama, attack his liberal record, and bring out all the lawless scoundrels he sleeps with, to no avail. In typical McCain style, he refuses to sling the kind of barbs they want to see sticking in Obama, a very respectful, if not winning gesture. Of course there are plenty of sleazy deals and relationships out there, but the in-the-tank press will not seriously address any of them.

Tony Rezko,
Bill "Bomber" Ayers,
"Calypso Louie" Farrakan,
the "Reverend" Wright,
Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and on, and on...we just keep hearing new facts every day. But NOT from the alleged mainstream press...no, they are more in-the-tank than in any election I can ever remember, and at my age I remember more than I like to admit. No, we only hear the TRUTH from those willing to study, relate the facts, and let the chips fall wherever they may. And those folks do not get jobs as "journalists". Those folks do not fall into the "lemmingus americus" species who dote and grovel at the feet of the latest media-created messiah. But take this to the bank (but not a FAILED one)...there are many more lemmings in America than there are thinking folks. Herein lies the reason that americans often get just what they deserve when they go to the polls and excerise their most cherished right; the process of selecting the man or woman who will lead the entire free world for the next four years or more.

The Great "Lemmingus Americus"
have been responsible for the election of many morons before...the premise of misled "yellow-dog" voters is nothing new.

Witness the nutcase Cynthia McKinney.

Duly elected to represent her constituents, she spent her few years in power bleating senseless charges and accusations at whoever would stand still and listen. Thank God, not many did, and she was thrown out of office before she could do much damage. As I said, we get just what we deserve sometimes. God just works that way...

Ms. Mckinney's latest claim to fame is her accusation that after hurricane Katrina, thousands of bodies of "citizens of color" were killed and buried by government officials...oh, yes, the FBI knows where they are, but they won't tell!!! A darling of the local loony left press, she at one point punched a Capitol Policeman for not recognizing her...her one shining moment in the light of truth.

There are many more, but the point is this; why in the world would we piss away our most valuable right by letting ANYONE with any agenda tell us how to vote??

One of my very favorite lines is "well, my pappy was a democrat/republican, my grandpappy was a democrat/republican, and I will ALWAYS be a democrat/republican!" To which I usually ask "if your pappy and grandpappy also had sex with their sisters and daughters and had kids with eight fingers and one eye, would that also be something you would aspire to?" It scared me when a couple of them actually had to ponder that for a minute...

Some say it is because of my close proximity Kentucky...I dunno.

God's gift to us to discern and reason for ourselves is the only gift that separates us from animals. However, since God has a wonderful sense of humor, he also gave us the ability to lie, cheat, and deceive just to see how we would handle it. Sadly, we have failed the test for the most part. Born in a lost, sinful state, we just sorta wander around like that until we find the TRUTH. Some find it early in life, some NEVER find it, but they are ALL eligible to run for office. Remember that when you go to vote.

Wow...this is the best Kool-Aid I have EVER had!!

Do any of you really believe what Barack Hussein Obama is dishing out?

Happily enjoying one of my favorite cigars, Michelle Obama's voice on the radio rudely interrupts my latest visit to the Elysian fields. She is remembering the South Side of Chicago 20 years ago, she says. This was of course before The One became the Chitown Shanty Senator, somewhat after his political career started in the living room of admitted terrorist Bill "The Bomber" Ayers and during his infamous relationship with virtual Mafioso Tony Rezko.

Bill
"The Bomber"
Ayers

Off to a blazing start, he convinced anyone who would listen that they were victims of "whitey" and if elected, he would bring home the cash; which of course he did.

Fast forward to this year, and Michelle is bleating that Bush/McCain (who most leftys now pronounce as one word, somewhat like mother and...well, you know...) will most certainly burn down all black churches and banish the saints to a yet to be named prison island somewhere near the only living cannibals known to exist. UNLESS, of course, her husband is elected Supreme Ruler of the Universe in short order. After all, he is the only reason she has to be proud of America.

Happily, my America is different from hers. There are not nearly so many self-appointed victims in my corner of the world, and each person registers and votes only once each election. ACORN does not recruit dead people or drunks here, and the KKK actually showed up for a rally on the town square several years back (all eight of them) and were promptly laughed out of the county before having a chance to spew their venom. We may be a small burg of rednecks, but we don't suffer fools with twisted agendas for very long; nor would we suffer Obama's brand of hocus-pocus politics for even an instant. I guess we are the types who cling to their guns and religion Barack was referring to and really don't have many visitors from south Chicago, candidates or not. Oh, they would no doubt be welcome, but country folk see through BS pretty quickly, so they wouldn't stay long I suppose. The victim mentality just doesn't get much sympathy here. We do probably have more than our share of third-generation welfare recipients here, but they are merely tolerated, not catered to by vampire politicos promising something for nothing. We refuse to be victims to anything or anyone, real or imagined. We just live nice, slow, small town lives respecting God and his creation, digging substinence out of the good earth He blessed us with, minding our own business while our neighbor minds his, and...well, just generally being good Americans.

We don't much like the kind of Kool-Aid served up by Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Harry Reid, or any of their ilk. Just a small town in a red flyover state, mostly happy that the planes DON'T land here. Sadly, we may be a dying breed; it seems when we discuss beliefs and ethics and morals and all the other things that REALLY made America great, we are mostly ignored by the powers that be unless they happen to need our vote desparately.

I remember the time Bobby Kennedy visited town; he stood on the exact spot that was later occupied for a short time by the fore-mentioned KKK. How different their messages were...and how the Democratic party Bobby so well served has changed.

Some of my older friends were in a faraway place called Viet Nam. Some had already come home wounded, crippled, shaken by what they had seen and experienced. Some didn't come back at all. Some were yet to depart for that tiny spot on the map that most of us couldn't even find on the big school globe. We didn't drink Lyndon Johnson's Kool-Aid either, nor Nixon's. We simply reasoned that our country had called, and we had to answer. Simple as that. We read in the papers and watched on TV that some who returned were treated as villians, called baby-killers, spat on by those who burned their draft cards and fled the country until the whole thing blew over (they hoped). And me? Well, my draft lottery number was 17 by the time I started college, and they had already taken up to 13. I got into Army ROTC, hoping if I went to Viet Nam, wherever it was, I would have at least a better chance of surviving than those who were drafted right out of their new-found jobs, such as they were.

Still, there was hope. No victim mentality, no mistrust of our friends and neighbors, no excuses. We knew we didn't live in a perfect world, but we knew we were up to the task of surviving whatever God dealt us next. Not because some media-created political messiah promised us a changed world, but because our parents, churches, and schools had instilled in us what it would take to DO something...not wait for someone to do something for us or to us.

But that was a lifetime ago. The only Kennedys with any integrity are long dead. The draft dodgers are back from Canada and are now college professors. Those raised as alleged victims are now arrogantly exacting revenge on the rest of us but still whining for more and more and more. And trust me, they will NEVER HAVE ENOUGH. It's just not in them, bless their hearts; they have just had the victim mentality hammered into them for so long that they couldn't survive in my world if they wanted to, which of course they don't. That is just not enough, ya see...they won't stop until they have destroyed or taken over my world. And I will miss it and all the people in it. The tiny eighty year old lady who sat behind me in church and gave her tithe every Sunday out of her paltry social security check, then dug deeper and gave a little more to the church youth group because she said they were the future of the world; the volunteer firefighters who gave up their free time just to help their neighbors and not receiving so much as a thank you as they used the flat side of an axe to chip the ice off their gear so they could finally go home to their families; the mailman who just KNEW something had to be wrong when the frail little man down the road from me didn't come out and get his mail for three days in a row and called the Sheriff's office to check on him; the folks who plow the snow, serve up plate lunches and wash the dishes, clean the streets, mow the cemetery, keep the lights on, nurse the sick back to health, and on and on, and on...no room for whiners and artificial victims among these heroes. I will miss them all greatly.

The point? Well, Michelle and Barack never knew these folks, or even cared that they existed. Instead, they made these patriots pay more and more and more in taxes to finance their Marxist fantasy projects in South Chicago and a thousand similar locations.

As for me, I will enjoy my cigar with a single malt scotch on the rocks, NO Kool-Aid please...

MONKEY BUSINESS

Someone sent me this today and I just have to share it. It’s a really excellent explanation of how the 700 billion sellout will work.

Once upon a time a man appeared in a village and announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for $10 each. The villagers, seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest and started catching them. The man bought thousands at $10 and, as supply started to diminish, the villagers stopped their effort. He next announced that he would now buy monkeys at $20 each. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again. Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to their farms. The offer increased to $25 each and the supply of monkeys became so scarce it was an effort to even find a monkey, let alone catch it!The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at $50 each! However, since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would buy on his behalf. In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers: 'Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has already collected. I will sell them to you at $35 and when the man returns from the city, you can sell them to him for $50 each.'The villagers rounded up all their savings and bought all the monkeysfor 700 billion dollars. They never saw the man or his assistant again, only lots and lots ofmonkeys! Now you have a better understanding of how the great congressional buyout (sellout) will work!

Passing the blame to someone else is this congressman's best talent...

Except for...

well, naw, never mind.

Waiting for the VP debate, watching O’Reilly…low and behold, here comes Barney Frank trying to defend his irresponsible comments concerning the mortgage giants Fannie and Freddie. Seems O’Reilly has been playing a video all week showing Barney bloviating about how bright the future was for the two now defunct agencies. Guess we know better now, huh...

But according to Barney, it’s Bush that’s to blame, not himself or the other morons who gave America the now famous food stamp mortgages. Gee, who would have thought that all those people would default on their loans? Well, DUH Barney…pretty much everyone in America but YOU and the Loony Left!

Barney in Happier Days...don't give him your phone number, kid!

The moderator for the debate, Gwen Ifill, has a book coming out on Inauguration Day praising The One, Obama himself. Of course she says she is completely non-political, and all her critics MUST be racists! Ms. Ifill, it is not about your race…it’s about your being so far left of center that you keep falling off! Geez-o Pete, where do they find these propaganda pukers…PBS of course!

Of course, they would indeed have a tough time finding a member of the Elite Mainstream Media who is NOT in the tank for Obama, but they could have at least TRIED to find a moderator who doesn’t stand to make a killing if Obama wins! After all, what will the book be worth if he loses? Come to think about it, what will it be worth anyway?

Kinda makes me think all those survivalists up in the mountains aren’t so loony after all…you leave me alone, I’ll leave you alone, you keep Gwen Ifill contained on PBS, and we’ll ALL be happy. Ya, sounds like a plan to me…

Well, Joe Biden is about to lie (his lips are moving) so we will meet
back here later, OK?

Even a blind pig finds an ACORN once in awhile...

And so does a senator from Chicago, apparently.

Are y‘all sufficiently furious about the seven billion dollar sellout…er…bailout to vote the morons responsible out so quick their butts smoke? I surely hope so. But let’s make sure you aren’t drinking Pelosi Kool-Aid first.

Her indignant rant moments before the House vote was so rabid and off-center her nose grew six inches in the first four sentences. After allegedly making a “deal” with republicans to make a bipartisan effort to pass a one-sided bill, she proceeded to begin her partisan rant blaming Bush for the whole sordid mess. Then the ACORN appeared out of the mist to all but the mainstream media, who chose NOT to report the REST of the story.

ACORN, which stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, has been a darling little sister of the Looney Left for a very long time. With the passage of the Community Reinvestment Act of 1977, (Jimmy Carter’s pet project) special interest groups nationwide clamored for a piece of the action. Basically, the act forced banks to lower standards for loans to “communities of color” (their words, not mine) and stop “redlining” poor and minority applicants. Note that Bush was still lingering in the background of life at this time, so we can hardly blame him for starting the mess.

Ah, but not Barack Obama…he was the legal council for ACORN, the biggest hog at the trough. In turn, ACORN gleefully helped finance his political career; sweet deal if you can get it I suppose, but this was and still is the nature of Chicago politics. And all this time, banks were making risky loans to people who could not possibly hope to pay them back.

Since then, ACORN has been indicted numerous times for filing bogus voter registration cards in several states and perpetrating vote fraud tactics in others. The head of ACORN credits Barack Obama for training the ACORN troops to “get out the vote”.

Enter Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, two mortgage giants from way back. Knowing that the government would never let them fail, they continued to finance the billions (or trillions, some now say) in bad loans. Along the way, they funneled millions into the campaign coffers of both parties to retain their “good standing” with the legislators who so loosely regulated them (another sweet deal, wouldn’t you say?).

And just who were these legislators who received the bulk of the contributions? Who were say, the top three recipients that we should now target for defeat in their next election? Who are these virtual CRIMINALS who sleep with the enemy for thirty pieces of silver? Are you ready for the top three? Drum roll please…

1. Chris Dodd
2. Barack Obama
3. John Kerry

What????? Not George Bush? Not John McCain? How can this be? Now, don’t think I am trying to say that republicans are innocent…many of them are also on the list. Greed knows no party affiliation, it seems.

Well, at least the morons in the House have learned their lesson with regard to ACORN, right? I mean, who in their collective right minds would continue to feed the slush funds of such an obviously corrupt conglomeration of thieves and rogues? Well, would it surprise you to learn that House democrats included more
funds for ACORN in their version of the bailout that was defeated this week? This was one of the major sticking points the media failed to mention. Fully 20% of the money collected was to go to ACORN or other similar pigs at the trough. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Try to remember that the next time an Obama lemming starts mumbling about change.

As I write, the Senate has passed their version by a vote of 75-24 (ya think Obama voted “present”?) without a penny for ACORN (or so the TV news is reporting). The House is set to vote on a revised version on Friday, and Nancy Pelosi just said that they will act in a non-partisan manner; oh no, not AGAIN!! Any more of her brand of non-partisanship and the House will need armed guards 24/7. But if Nancy and Obama have their way, there will be no guns to arm them with…just some squirt guns filled with Kool-Aid.

More on that later…I promise.

the HORROR...the HORROR...

As I write, we have passed another anniversary of the 9-11 attack, mostly ignored or relegated to the back pages of the liberal local rags or condensed to a small sound bite ala MSNBC. It seems that 9-11 is no longer useful to the media except as another chance to bash George Bush or remind us that we have not yet caught Bin Laden or solved all of Afghanistan’s problems because we remain engaged in that “bad” war. Of course, the media completely ignore the fact that we have captured or eliminated many (most?) of the Al Qaeda operatives we have encountered and by the way, have NOT been subject to another attack, large OR small. I am no George Bush Kool-aid server, but let’s at least give thanks to our military and their leaders for accomplishing so much in our name and for our sakes. We have undertaken the fight that the UN should have been fighting but could not muster the collective kahunas to face head-on. The very pundits screaming for us to police Darfur are the same ones castigating us for deposing the most vicious family of dictators in the world. Go figure…

Of course, if we had just been fortunate enough to have Barry Hussein Obama in charge, he would have negotiated with Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden and we wouldn’t have needed to do anything but ask in pretty-please style for them not to hurt anyone else; of course they would have listened to The One, and the world’s problems would be solved over Chinese take-out and Diet Cokes. And of course pigs would be flying wearing lipstick and traditional middle-east garb; oh my, what a perfect world we are missing!

But let’s get back to reality. It is now a few short weeks until one of the most important elections to take place in our memories, and we STILL don’t know what the “change” we keep seeing on Obama posters will consist of. Nor do we know how Barry would handle that “small, harmless” pesky country of Iran who keeps telling us their quest for atom-crunching is for “peaceful purposes”. No need to even consider negotiating there, I suppose (watch out for pig crap falling from above).

the HORROR...the HORROR...

Nancy Pelosi (yes, the one with the approval rating lower than the President's) managed to piss off every person in America and some foreign countries who know ANYTHING about Christian theology and Catholic dogma by presuming to change the entire history of the church by saying that theologians had never agreed on the point at which life begins. Really Nancy? Then I'll bet you were REALLY shocked when you found that the Catholic hierarchy around the world quickly went into the damage control mode and informed us that you were pretty much full of crap. Of course, this was not long after Barry Obama told Rick Warren (author of "The Purpose Driven Life") that determining the point at which life begins was "above my pay grade". Perhaps Madam Speaker, like Obama, attended the same church for 20 years and doesn't remember a thing...hey, there's a pattern developing here!

The next President will have a giant mess to clean up. I'm hoping he will be someone who manages to REMEMBER his morals and ethics. His compass should point out the right path, not spin like a roulette wheel.

Stay tuned...it's going to get intense in the next few weeks!

The Real Race is ON...

The conventions are over, the horses are in the starting gates, and...well, the time has come for the endless TV ads and sound bites by the "mainstream press" (mostly pro-Obama, by a 10-1 margin on NBC).

First of all, what does Joe Biden say about Obama?

"I think he can be ready, but right now, I don't think he is. The presidency is not something that lends itself to on the job training." - Senator Joe Biden

Well said, Senator! So were you lying then or are you lying now?

For all of us who have lived through more campaigns than we care to recall, total reversals like this one are typical of the democrat party; they shoot at each in January and sleep together in November.

In the latest Jimmy Carter reincarnation, perhaps we are to believe that Obama has miraculously become "ready" to lead (the Messiah can swing that, ya' know,,,). Or possibly that Biden was hopelessly blinded by all the Clinton sound bites, but has now CAN SEE because of being able to touch the hem of the Messiah's empty suit...a miracle first experienced by Hillary herself. Oh, the WONDER of it all! We may have time to take a look at Biden's record in a later post, but for now, let's just assume that like many (most?) members of the senate, he is just acting in his own twisted self-interest Go figure...

But we vote for the presidential candidate, not the vice-president, right? ( NOT to be confused with the Presidential-Vice, made famous by Bill "bent cigar" Clinton). So what of Obama's record?

Well, more than 130 times he voted "present"; the vote set in place for all those who were born and raised with no cajones or just don't have the capacity to make an honest decision. When he did manage to get the courage to come out from under his desk and vote, he established himself as the most liberal of all United States senators...a title previously reserved for Teddy Kennedy (but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it...so to speak).

So the man complaining about VP choice Palin's inexperience would have us believe his 149 days as a senator makes him uniquely qualified to lead the free world. At least Palin has lead a city and a state; all Barry has run is his mouth. Yes, he is a wonderful speaker (until the teleprompter screws up) but so were Hitler and Marx

Cigar time. Later.

Will the REAL Obama please stand up?

How does a man attend services at the same (alleged) church for 20 years and not remember anything the (alleged) minister said??

And what does that man propose to change about the greatest country in the world?

And does anyone know what this woman is pissed about??

Of course the TRUTH is that we won't know the answers to these often asked questions until far after the upcoming election, and then it will have been far too late to do the RIGHT thing...

What Obama offers is more of the morally bankrupt Secular Humanism the Looney Left has been spouting for years. The only thing new is that this guy seems to not have a clue about what is needed to institute the kind of change that is truly needed. Nor does he seem to have any values of his own; he remains a "me too" guy just two short months from a very important election.

That's a very good way to get elected. It's a very poor way to lead a country. But the vast Lemmingus Americus apparently LIKE being deceived.

Alas, it is TRUE that many want to be deceived when deep in their hearts they know better...that makes it much easier to look in the mirror! They can then pretend they are doing the right thing when all the time they KNOW that a man with no morals or values will appoint a cabinet that reflects his lack of substance and judgement.

Barry Obama, you're no daisy...

I'm wondering why anyone would take this abuse...

Blogging seems a little like being pecked to death by a duck; slow, painful, and altogether pointless to all but the duck. Perhaps that is why duck hunting is so popular...it's actually a public service; again, to all but the duck...

I have spent the first 55 years of my life reading and listening to other peoples' opinions; some very well said and worth considering, many more in the class generally known as BS. Having suffered through more BS than I care to remember, the opinions you will see here will be based on fact and careful consideration, NOT on the lemming-like bloviating of the "me too" crowd we so often see in the media talking-head world or the numerous rags who buy their ink by the barrel after having been vomited out of the Peoples Republic School of Mediocre Journalism.

Speaking of which, has anyone else besides me grown tired of the presidential race already? I can remember when the race didn't even get serious until Labor Day. But not this time; this time we have a candidate who has been running for the office since he was old enough to lie without assistance. Oh, did I mention he is black? (He said we would dwell on that, so I am happy to oblige; after all, it seems to be the one thing he doesn't want to change)

That's more than enough for now; I have a poker game and a very good cigar waiting, both of which are far more important to me than anything else I can think of writing tonight. After all, one's brain can only absorb so much truth at one sitting; that's why church services only last an hour.

Later dudes and dudettes...
